Nolan L Boyd, Ph.D., is currently an assistant professor with the Department of Physiology and Biophysics and Cardiovascular Therapeutics Division of Cardiovascular Innovation Institute.
His research revolves around the assembly of blood vessels from the earliest precursors to the mature functional system and the application of this biological knowledge to integrate with engineered technologies to perfuse ischemic tissues or develop vascularized organoids.
He previous held the positions with the University of Louisville of associate faculty, Department of Mechanical Engineering; associate faculty, Department of Physiology and Biophysics and associate faculty, Department of Anatomical Sciences and Neurobiology.
Prior to receiving his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2003, Dr. Boyd received an M.S. in Bioengineering, Texas A&M University (1998) and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, University of Texas at Arlington (1990). He also holds a BA of Theology from Ambassador College (1982).
